Share Night at Culver’s

ELCA Youth Gathering – Mt. Horeb Group is holding a Share Night at the Culver’s in Mt Horeb on April 3, 2018. Between 5-10 PM, Culver’s will donate 10% of their sales to support 87 individuals from seven area Lutheran churches – Barneveld, Evangelical, Immanuel, New Hope (Blanchardville-Hollandale), Perry, St. Martin’s, Two Steeples (Springdale-West Blue Mounds).  These individuals will be traveling to Houston this summer to attend the ELCA Youth Gathering, where 30,000 youth from across the ELCA, gather for a week of faith formation. Through days spent in interactive learning, worship, Bible study, service and fellowship, young people grow in faith and are challenged and inspired to live their faith in their daily lives. Stop by, show your support, and enjoy a ButterBurger or custard while you are there.
Thank you for your support!

Synod Assembly early bird registration March 30

Who will lead ELCA church in South-central Wisconsin for the Next 6 years?

It is time to elect a new bishop.

Our congregation is formally connected with other congregations to form the Evangelical Lutheran Church on America (ELCA).  Together we can do much more than a single congregation.  As part of the ELCA we get to experience what it means to be part of the body of Christ.  As Christians we are to be united as one body.  Nationally, the ELCA consists of 65 synods (regions). In the ELCA, members are selected by each congregation to go to the annual Synod Assembly where they vote on policies for the synod as well as elect a bishop.  We can send 2 adult members and one youth to go to be our voting members.  At the Synod Assembly, we worship together with people from our sister congregations, learn about resources for our ministry at New Hope, and add voices to ministry in our synod.

You can be a servant-leader and help to elect our new bishop.  The Synod Assembly is May 5 – 6 at the Kalahari Resort and Convention Center, Wisconsin Dells.  The key note speaker is Rev. Felipe Lozada-Montanez, Bishop Carribbean Synod-ELCA and President Puerto Rico Council of Churches.  This is a great opportunity to hear about hurricane relief in Puerto Rico.  In addition to electing the next bishop, the Synod Assembly will be electing members of synod council, synod vice president, synod treasurer, 2019 church-wide voting members, and members of the discipline & consultation committees.

Please consider volunteering for this important task.  The Early Bird Reduced Registration ends March 30, so please let Dawn Doran or Pastor Michelle know if you are willing to go.  The registration and hotel expense are part of our annual budget.
