Once again, we will have a large class.  We have 15 students in 7th and 8th grades.  We will be meeting every Wednesday night beginning September 12.  Come from 5:45 – 6:15 p.m. for supper.  Class will be 6:15 – 7:00 p.m. If you want to help provide food for the meal, watch for Sign up Genius posts, or call or text Lisa Toay at (608)574-1489 or email her at ltoay6@gmail.com

There will be no Confirmation class on October 10 (Annual New Hope Fall Supper and Auction), October 31 (Halloween), November 21 (day before Thanksgiving), and December 26 (school break).  In addition, we are tentatively scheduling the annual Christmas Barn Service for December 19.

The expectations for confirmation students include attending class and keeping up with the material if a class is missed due to illness or emergency, and coming to Sunday worship at least once per month, preferably more often.  In addition, the confirmation students are expected to complete:

~10 Sermon notes (purpose:  to teach students about the parts of worship and to think about the worship service and message and how these are relevant to their lives)

~Faith interview (hand out with instructions and guide provided)

~At least 1 service project (focus on serving others in the world)

Examples: Highway cleanup, Pec Halloween party, mission trip, help neighbor, food pantry, etc.

~Acolyte (about 4 to 5 times per year)

~And volunteer at least once at church or church activity (not including youth fundraisers*)

Examples:  125th anniversary meal, fall supper/auction, lefse making, usher, greeter, reader, etc.

(* All youth who want to participate in youth trips or special youth events need to participate in youth fundraisers.)

Pastor Michelle is seeking up to 15 mentors for the confirmation students.  You do NOT need to be a Bible scholar or still have Luther’s Small Catechism memorized.  All you need is compassion for our youth, a willingness to listen and keep the conversation going.

If you plan to participate in the new adult bible study on Wednesday evenings, you are the ideal person.  You would be able to easily interact with your student during the meal.  However, you do NOT need to participate in the Wednesday Bible study to volunteer to be a confirmation student mentor.

As a volunteer confirmation mentor, you will be helping nurture the faith of the next generation of adult members of church.

If you are interested, please call Pastor Michelle at 341-6496 before September 9.  Thank you for your willingness to be a blessing to our confirmation youth and this congregation.
