Word has been received that those victims of the recent hurricane in North Carolina are in need of plarn (plastic yarn) mats as beds for those who have lost their homes. New Hope Lutheran has been making plarn mats for The Beacon homeless shelter in Madison for the past three years. A workday has been scheduled to make as many plarn mats as possible to send with Rainelde Raymond when local donations are being taken to North Carolina the first week of December.
The workday will be held on Saturday, November 30, 8:00 am to 4:00 PM, at New Hope Lutheran, 305 Madison Street, Blanchardville. Those who would like to help are asked to bring clean plastic grocery bags as it takes approximately 500 bags to make one mat. No experience is necessary. A potluck lunch will be served at noon.
